Welcome to Mays Elementary!
I am very proud to be the first assistant principal at Mays! I began my teaching career in Room A6 at Mays as a kindergarten teacher. I taught kindergarten and prekindergarten at Troy for six years before moving to Belton, where I taught prekindergarten, kindergarten, and was a reading specialist for 3 years. I returned to Troy in 2014 and was the district’s Instructional Technology Coach and Gifted and Talented Coordinator for almost 6 years. I moved away from Central Texas and accepted a position at the Education Service Center (Region 11) in Fort Worth. There, I was an Instructional Coach and Consultant in Early Childhood Education and had the opportunity to work closely with many districts in the North Texas area. Working on campuses with early childhood teachers allowed me to enjoy students daily and I loved every minute of it! The work that I did at the ESC was very rewarding, but it also made me realize that I missed building long-term relationships with students and teachers.
Outside of school, my favorite thing to do is travel! I also like to do anything outdoors and spend time with my family. I have two children. Gage, a 2017 Troy graduate, is finishing his degree in Political Science at Stephen F. Austin State University. Laci, a 2019 Troy graduate, is pursuing a Political Science degree and is absolutely loving the sorority life as a ZTA at Texas State University.
I am extremely excited to get to know you and your students and I’m even more excited to be the assistant principal on the campus where I was a first-year teacher! Please feel free to reach out to me at any time. You can send an email or call the office and leave a message or make an appointment to see me. I can’t wait to see all of our students and staff and join the fun, student-focused campus community at MES!
