TEEF Grants in Action: Orff Instruments
Mays Elementary has a new tune this school year thanks to a generous grant from the Troy Education Enhancement Foundation (TEEF).
Music teacher Jeremy Thompson has introduced Orff instruments into his classroom, positively impacting the way students engage with music and enhancing their overall learning experience.
“These instruments have always been an integral part of my musical instruction,” said Mr. Thompson. “I knew our school needed a better set, and applying for a grant was the perfect way to make it happen.”
The impact of the grant is already evident. With access to these new instruments, Mr. Thompson has been able to expand his lesson plans and will be able to integrate them into program performances. “All of my students, from pre-kindergarten through second grade, now have the opportunity to use these instruments,” he shared.
“It has significantly enhanced our music program, my planning, and our program presentations.” The grant has affected 420 students at Mays Elementary, bringing joy and excitement to the classroom.
Thanks to the TEEF grant, Mays Elementary is building a strong foundation in music education, one note at a time.
